Hey Everyone,

            For my senior project, I have decided to combine my love of science and creative writing to write my own science fiction short story.  After reading Cordwainer Smith’s “Scanners Live in Vain”, I know science fiction can critically analyze the big issues behind science and answer the “what if…?” questions. Throughout my academic career, I have encountered analytical writing, dense prose, and poetry, but never fiction writing.  This is something I have never done before and I am excited to begin writing.  By writing my own science fiction short story, I hope to learn more about outlining, editing, and publishing a finished product.  Hopefully by the end of May, I will have a thoroughly edited – if not completed – ten to fifteen page short story.  Although a good chunk of my time will be spent writing, I have a list of short stories I'm going to read so I don't burnout by writing for too long. After each story, I'm going to give a brief summary and my thoughts on the matter. I'll be updating my blog every couple of days, so check often and tell me what you think!
